MANICURE MUSE: BCBG Max Azria Pre-Fall ’14

BCBG Max Azria is a power fashion house that I really admire. Last season, OPI and I were invited to join Max and Lubov Azria the day before their S/S’14 runway show at the BCBG headquarters in New York (watch the experience here). The pristine white office was a frenzy with models along every wall, beauty tests in one room, nail tests in another, and photographers capturing final looks. Even in the midst of a brief fire that broke out– that required all of the craziness to sprint down 17 flights of stairs– Lubov and Max remained cool, calm, collected, and in control.

That about sums up BCBG Max Azria for you— and more specifically its powerful Pre-Fall ’14 collection. With a utilitarian vibe, the collection featured a crisp white shirt as a base for layering. Cropped sweaters were layered on top balanced by floral trumpet skirts and camo printed pants. The palette was dark and gray with muted tones and a dash of silver. The prints had a hint of folklore too. The whole concept worked well and is especially appropriate for this snowy Mani Monday, as we gear up for the Fall collections this week in NYC. I can’t wait to see what BCBG has in store for Fall ’14, but in the meantime, this icy cool BCBG Max Azria Ladyfinger will do.

To emulate this look, I used Moon Over Mumbai, Haven’t the Foggiest and Matte Top Coat by OPI, a paper towel, and a black nail art pen.

To get these Ladyfingers:

1. Start with a full light gray nail

2. Using a paper towel and silver polish, dab silver on top

3. With a black nail art pen, draw small circle shapes

4. Complete the look by drawing a thin tail stemming from the circles

5. Top it off with Matte Top Coat
