Living the polished life.

MANICURE MUSE: Diane von Furstenberg Pre-Fall ’13

“I always wanted to live a man’s life in a woman’s body,” so said Diane von Furstenberg of her Pre-Fall ’13 collection. But since Diane is not one to ignore her feminine side, leave it to her to create a collection of menswear designed to complement the female body. How did this translate, you wonder? Looking to Mick Jagger circa his years with Marianne Faithfull, this translated via late-60s mens necktie prints, slim pants, short jackets, and tweeds. The palette was fairly neutral in black and white with the exception of cobalt, deep red, and a quirky yellow. I was drawn to this print specifically for how offbeat it is. Plus, it’s not so far off from this Fall ’12 look. I mean, Wiz Khalifa’s “Black and Yellow” is catchy…

To emulate this look, I used Daffy Dill by Nicole by OPI, Onyx Rush from Maybelline’s Color Show, a nail art brush, and a black nail art pen.

To get these Ladyfingers:

1. Start with a full yellow nail

2. Using a nail art brush, create black ‘S’ curves in different directions

3. Using a black nail art pen, slash the ‘S’ with short horizontal thin lines

4. Top it off with top coat
