MANICURE MUSE: Chanel Cruise ‘13
Let them have ladyfingers! On Monday, King Karl took reign over Versailles to present Chanel’s 2013 Cruise collection. His re-imagined Marie Antoinette was the ultimate mash-up of “Ghetto Royale” (which actually played as the soundtrack to the show) mixing opulence with rocker chic. Formal eighteenth century silhouettes like pantaloons, stacks of ruffles, and circle skirts translate to modern day with denim and punky flat forms. The best part? Similar to their historical counterparts, models sported candy-colored wigs and signature Chanel logos for beauty marks.
To emulate this look, I used I Will! by L’Oreal, and Neon Pink and Red Color Club duo.
To get these ladyfingers:
1. Paint your full nail white
2. Using a red nail art brush or pen, draw swirls to create a “W” half way up your nail
3. Fill in the bottom portion leaving some white space
4. Once dry layer pink swirls on top
5. Top it off with top coat
MANICURE MUSE: Stella McCartney AW’12
After a sporty chic Spring ‘12 collection and with Olympic uniforms on the way, it comes as no surprise that Stella McCartney is keeping the athletic-wear ball rolling for Fall. “The Stella woman is about balance,” said McCartney of her Fall collection. Body con tweed dresses with symmetrical white stripes are fine by me, so, with that said, I give you my Stella McCartney ladyfingers.
To recreate this look, I used: Forbidden by Chanel, Beige Babe by Rimmel London, Marine Blue by The Balm and White nail art paint by Kiss Nail Art.
To get these ladyfingers:
1. Start with a dark brown nail
2. Paint a half circle of blue starting from the top of your nail ending at the center
3. Using your taupe, paint 1/4 of a circle on a corner of your nail
4. Repeat on the other corner leaving a small space of brown still exposed in the center
5. Using a white nail art brush, draw a squiggly line on the left side
6. Repeat making another line symmetrical with the one you just made
7. Top it off with Seche Vite’s Fast Dry Top Coat
MANICURE MUSE: Chanel Haute Couture Spring ‘12
Uncle Karl’s got the blues and it’s clear from his Spring Couture collection. Set in a space shuttle, our main man streamlined new modern silhouettes and textiles down the runway. You would never guess it, but this spectacular graphic giraffe print maxi is actually made of shimmery cellophane. Uncle Karl never fails to impress!
To emulate this look, I used “Midnight Blue” by Sinful, “Blingtastic” by Sally Hansen Gem Crush, and White by Art club.
1. Paint your nail dark midnight blue
2. Paint another coat of blue glitter
3. Using a thin white nail art brush or a white nail art pen, draw irregular connecting squares all over the nail
4. Top it off with Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat
MANICURE MUSE: Prada Spring ‘12
Well, it was about time the infamous Pink Lady uniform be reinvented… thanks to Prada’s Spring collection. For the Rizzos of the world, turn to the crop tops and leather pencil skirts with hot rod decals. And for wholesome Sandys, Prada serves up pleated frocks in frothy colors. Too many things excite me about this collection. You can definitely look forward to another Prada-inspired Miss Ladyfinger feature…
To emulate this look, I used World’s End by Topshop and Mimosa by Chanel:
1. Paint your whole nail light blue
2. Paint a stroke of yellow, starting from 1/4 of the nail down slightly diagonal
3. Paint another diagonal in the other direction
4. Round out the yellow curves with a small brush
5. Use a black nail art pen to follow the curves of the yellow polish leaving a space of light blue in between
6. Top it off with Seche Vite’s Fast Dry Top Coat and voila!

MANICURE MUSE: Chanel Couture Fall ‘11 (Part Deux)
Another look from the Chanel Couture show. This simple new take on a French manicure makes for a very chic statement. Used here: Ballet Slippers by Essie and a black nail art brush.

MANICURE MUSE: Chanel Couture Fall ‘11
Holiday nails are a big commitment. They need to make a statement without stealing the show. It is, after all, my sequined dress’s big day. While Dolce & Gabbana’s Fall ‘11 star motif was a close runner up, for me, Chanel Haute Couture Fall ‘11 makes for the perfect holiday nail. This look is one of my favorites with the structure on top into the floaty bottom. Not to mention the sultry mesh veils… DIY project, anyone? Pictured here: “Got My Groove Back” by Ginger+Liz and Liquid Vinyl by Orly.

When Birchbox approached me to be a Guest Blogger, I was beyond excited. I’m not only a huge fan of Birchbox, but also a subscriber. You may have noticed that here at Birchbox, we have a deep, abiding love for all things nails. Which is why nail artist extraordinaire Taryn Multack, a.k.a Miss Ladyfinger, is a great fit as this week’s guest blogger. Multack, who’s spent time working at fashion staples like Oscar de la Renta and W Magazine, uses trends and looks straight from the runway to create gorgeous, imaginative designs for her digits. The most impressive part? She does all of her art while keeping a day job in the fashion world. This week, she teaches us how to make our nails just as fabulous as hers.
Let me just first say that I am not a nail technician. I repeat: not a nail technician. I’m simply a fashion industry gal with a steady hand, but we all need to start somewhere, right? Miss Ladyfinger started out as the typical nail blog, swatching colors as I purchased them. (Side note: It’s embarrassing, but I admit to spending more money on polish than on clothes.) It wasn’t until I bought my first nail art pen that things got interesting. Like any art form, a blank canvas can be intimidating. Luckily, my day job requires that I immerse myself in fashion runway images to gain inspiration, so that’s exactly what I did. I’m here to tell — and show — you how you can, too.

MANICURE MUSE: Proenza Schouler SP’12
I’m loving the retrospective approach to the collections this season- Prada, Fendi, and Proenza to name a few. The 1940s refined silhouettes have always caught my eye, though it’s probably not the decade I’d choose to teleport to (I’ve only seen Taking Woodstock 8 times, but who’s counting?).
Proenza Schouler has always been one of my favorite designers. Jack and Lazaro always get it right, and while the second half of the show stole my heart with the leaf printed midi dresses, this striped geographic look called Miss Ladyfinger’s name. Featured here: Mimosa (Chanel), Power Clutch (Essie), Vinyl (Orly), and White (Kiss Nail Art Paint).

MANICURE MUSE: Burberry Spring ‘12
The reign of Christopher Bailey for Burberry never fails at showing anything short of fabulous (still pining over last Fall’s shearling btw) and this spring was no exception. Spring ‘12 played homage to craftsmanship featuring artisanal details of beading, crochet, weaving and braiding in rich vegetable dye colors. While the accessories have already topped my Lust List— namely the striped baseball caps and raffia clutches, the tribal looks totally caught my eye. This look is one of my faves and features Midnight Cami (Essie), Cotton (American Apparel), Mimosa (Chanel), and a red nail brush.
