You may or may not recall when Natalie Portman’s character in Black Swan has a serious bad habit peeling back her hangnails… The only reason I know is because I prematurely removed my hands from my eyes mid-squeal. While unfortunately Rodarte will not be providing my tutu this year, I will be replicating the make-up (complete with bloodshot contacts). Here I present to you my uber freaky bloody nails. Totally adaptable to match any other horrific Halloween character.
Dip Dyed:

For those of you as indecisive as I am, picking just one color is quite an ordeal… but, alas! You don’t have to choose with this fun dip-dyed effect. It’s easy, I swear.
1. Pick your two top contenders
2. Paint half of your nail with a generous amount of polish #1 (see picture)
3. VERY quickly and lightly paint the second half with polish #2 being sure to grab just a bit of polish #1
4. For a bold differentiation go over polish #2 at just the tip of your nails
5. Top coat to seal the deal! (Miss Ladyfinger recommends Seche Vite’s Fast Dry Top Coat)

Idiot’s Guide to: Painting a Striped Manicure
I’ve never been good with cooking, or baking for that matter. Somehow upon concluding a step-by-step recipe it always seems that I miss one CRITICAL ingredient (I’m looking at you, baking soda). Fine. I get it. I’m not a cook, but I do find processes much simpler when pictures are accompanied and it’s something I actually care about. Thanks to this “How to Paint Your Nails With Stripes” guide, I’m optimistic this is something I can actually achieve… I’ll let you know how it goes.
